Texas Campaign for the Environment (TCE) has a strong history of victories. Here are just some of the highlights:

Key Accomplishments

  • Gathering public support for Dallas and Arlington to adopt a curbside recycling program. 1991-2000

  • Helping to stop the permitting of a new landfill on Lake Arlington, the drinking water source for area residents. 1991-2000

  • Mobilizing Weatherford neighbors control a landfill expansion. 2005

  • Stopping the expansion and privatization of Austin's old landfill. 2005

  • Closing the Grandfather Loophole in the Texas Clean Air Act and requiring modern pollution controls on old plants. 1991-2000

  • Bringing cleaner burning gasoline to the Greater Austin area 2001 and cleaning up diesel emissions of the Texas Department of Transportation and the Austin Independent School District. 2002

  • Convincing the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Board to continue buying cleaner-burning natural gas buses. 1991-2000

  • Advocating for large new wind power plants in West Texas. 1991-2000

  • Leading effort to convince Dell to embrace producer takeback recycling and stop using prison labor for recycling. 2004
