Texas Campaign for the Environment: Tax Status

Texas Campaign for the Environment is recognized as a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. The 501(c)(4) designation allows TCE to actively lobby legislators and other elected and appointed officials. This is the reason why contributions to TCE are not tax-deductible.

TCE's sister organization Texas Campaign for the Environment Fund (TCE Fund) is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. TCE Fund's goals include educating the public on environmental issues and promoting environmental sustainability. TCE Fund also promotes increasing Texans' abilities to have input into decision-making by our government. The 501(c)(3) for TCE Fund means that contributions are tax-deductible because TCE Fund does not engage in lobbying. For more information about TCE Fund, go to: www.texasenvironment.org/fund
