Texas Campaign for the Environment: Tax Status

Texas Campaign for the Environment is recognized as a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. The 501(c)(4) designation allows TCE to actively lobby legislators and other elected and appointed officials. This is the reason why contributions to TCE are not tax-deductible.

TCE's sister organization Public Research Works is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. PRW's goals include educating the public on environmental issues and promoting environmental sustainability. PRW also promotes increasing Texans' abilities to have input into decision-making by our government. The 501(c)(3) for PRW means that contributions are tax-deductible because PRW does not engage in lobbying.Ê For more information about PRW go to its website: http://www.publicresearchworks.org
